Rehearsals have begun, and the show will run through October, at The Concourse Theatre, Chatswood, in Sydney. For ticket information, please visit www.theconcourse.com.au, or call 1300 795 012. Courtney had an amazing time last week, performing with a select ensemble of VOX (Sydney Philharmonia Choirs) singers, at the Sydney Opera House, for Danny Elfman: Music From The Films of Tim Burton. It was a joy to be conducted by Scott Dunn, and the house was full of Elfman/Burton lovers. A truly wonderful concert to be a part of!
January was a huge month for Courtney, with three consecutive productions in as many weeks. This season began with Short + Sweet Sydney, with Courtney directing Jeffrey Hampson in Wherefore Art Thou, Oh Writing Inspiration? The play was an audience favourite, winning the People's Choice Award, and a place in the Short + Sweet People's Choice Showcase (March 5-8, Sydney). Jeffrey shone in the role, and Courtney loved working on this project. Next up, Courtney lent her voice to PUNCTURE, a world premiere at The Sydney Festival. PUNCTURE embraces the risk and ritual of intimacy on a dance floor. Watching bodies moving in rhythm, you are guided from the restraint and formality of classical dance through the sensuality of the tango, to the rebellion of youth and the freedom of dance. PUNCTURE was a huge success, with sold out shows, rave reviews, and Sydney-wide acclaim. It was a very special project that Courtney was honoured to be a part of. Last, but not least, Courtney again paired up with Jeffrey Hampson in 30ily Ever After, for Short + Sweet Sydney. Written and directed by the pair, Courtney and Jeffrey were thrilled to receive the Judges' Choice Award, for best play (tied with The Bridge). A play very close to their hearts, Courtney loved every minute.
